Gerdemann Botanical Preserve’s Public Footpath
Located in north Yachats, a public footpath on this private property offers a magical walk along a small creek midst big-leaf rhododendrons sheltered beneath a canopy of native coastal woodland. Fairly easy with some steps.
A moderate hike from the north trailhead on Yachats. Ocean Road features panoramic ocean views and lush coastal woodland. From the statue of Amanda the trail is a strenuous climb to the summit of Cape Perpetua. Dedicated in memory of Amanda, a blind Coos woman who suffered injustices during 1860s’ reservation years.
